世界上最著名的音乐学院之一。1924年，Mary Louise Curtis Bok创办柯蒂斯音乐学院，从创办之日起就在作曲、指挥、声乐、管弦乐、键盘乐等领域提供最优秀的教学，学院也因此获得“独奏家摇篮”的美誉。“一个极具天赋的青年音乐家从一开始学习音乐就应该师从好老师”是柯蒂斯音乐学院的办学格言，所以，学院没有预科老师或者助教。柯蒂斯音乐学院约有90名著名教师，他们大部分是表演艺术家。柯蒂斯音乐学院是由宾夕法尼亚州联邦特许，宾州高等院校学位教育委员会注册的音乐学院，是美国国家音乐院校联合会的主要成员。

Principal tuba of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra since 2005, Craig Knox was previously acting principal tuba of the San Francisco Symphony and principal tuba of the Sacramento Symphony.
