美国伯克利音乐学院是格莱美的最大赢家；被麻省、哈佛等顶尖学府环绕，却依旧“吸睛”无数。这里不仅是世界顶尖爵士乐、摇滚乐教学圣地，更是执现代音乐教学之牛耳的存在。据统计，伯克利音乐学院自建校以来，共造就了来自75个国家的3万多名音乐家。但随着爵士音乐的变化与发展，该学院吸引了越来越多的有志于现代音乐的学生，随之发展壮大。到了50年代，伯克利音乐学院开设的课程又增添了乡村音乐、蓝调以及摇滚乐。60年代，当通俗音乐大行其道时，伯克利音乐学院增添了通俗歌曲写作课程，使音乐创作者能够充分利用先进的技术设备和音乐制作室来录制他们的作品。到了90年代，音乐已经成为年收入数百亿元的产业，伯克利音乐学院又设置了音乐商业企业管理专业，以培养懂音乐又懂市场行销的现代商业管理人才。此后，随着音乐疗法在美国的兴起，伯克利音乐学院又设立了相应专业，以培养下一世纪也许会流行的全新音乐医疗方法和技术。
